This technique, Mother of Pearl, is really stunning to see in person! It was highlighted in a recent Stampin' Success magazine. That's the monthly magazine that demonstrators get. (Love it!!) But don't worry, I'll give you a little how-to!
First, start with Frost White Shimmer Paint (#116854, $5.95), Glossy White Cardstock (#102599, $5.95), a disposable plate, and plastic wrap (scrunched into a ball).
Pour a small amount of paint on to the plate. Use the ball of plastic wrap to "pounce" and apply paint to the glossy white cardstock. Allow to dry. Using a Rubber Brayer (#102395, $12.50) and Classic ink pad, roll over the cardstock until you get the desired shade of color.
The dried paint will resist the ink. Rub a cotton ball in a small circular motion over the cardstock to remove the ink off the dried paint. Viola! Stamp on the cardstock using Staz-On ink or use as a background piece.
Stampin' Up! Supplies: Strength & Hope stamp set, Basic Gray ink & cardstock, Blushing Bride ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Glossy White cardstock, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Rhinestone Jewel Accents, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Rubber Brayer
Fonts. The weakness of any graphic designer and art director of a magazine. The search of the perfect truetype can take hours for someone a little demanding: “Better sans serif”, “Too bold”, “Too narrow”, “Difficult to read”, “I don’t like that one” “This is it!! Oh, it’s $300″, “Hmm… Not exactly what I was looking for”. But oh, how nice is the result when you find a good font.
In a logo or a headtitle, the font is the main thing. Using a type or another tells a lot about the label. Prada and D&G have very little in common, just like the Glamour head and the Vogue head.
In this article you’ll find the fonts used by fashion magazines and labels. The original types from Vogue Paris, the simple style of Marc Jacobs, or the beautiful font from Lula Magazine. Some of them are free (yeah!), and some others aren’t. If you’re lucky, the font might be included in your computer (Apple has Helvetica and Futura). I also have to add that in some cases, the font mentioned is not the exact one, because (like in Chanel), the font was created specifically for that logo.

When it comes to serving drinks at parties I’m a big fan of DIY cocktails stations. Guests always love them because they look cute and are a lot of fun to use and as a host I love them too because it means I don’t have to worry about serving drinks all throughout my party. It’s a win-win really.
My current favorite type of DIY drinks station is the ‘Mimosa Bar’ which allows guests to mix in their favorite juices and fruit with bubbly. I created one for a brunch I hosted for my girlfriends last Saturday and it was such a hit that I thought I’d share a few tips on how to create your own at home today. It’s so easy and I’m sure your guests will love it too!
♥ What you’ll need
Champagne (or sparkling wine). One bottle per every 4-5 guests is usually enough but it’s always a good idea to have an extra bottle on hand just in case. For an alcohol-free version, simply replace the champagne with soda water.
Fruit Juice. Offer 3 or 4 juices for your guests to choose from. Try to pick juices with contrasting colors to create an even more colorful display (orange, cranberry, strawberry, pineapple are all good choices).
Fresh fruit. Fruit makes for a pretty garnish and will also infuse the cocktails with their flavor. Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, oranges or pineapple always look very pretty and go well with champagne.
Champagne glasses, carafes, bowls and an ice bucket. Of course, all these items can be substituted with things you already own. Mason jars would make for a cute alternative to champagne flutes for example and if you don’t own an ice bucket then you can simply offer your guests some ice.
Labels to identify the juices. You could use store-bought labels or simply make your own. For my display, I simply wrote out the names of each juice on a small piece of white cardboard, punched a hole in the corner, and then attached it to the corresponding bottle with twine. Voila!
Optional: For an extra wow factor you could also add more decorating items to your table such as party straws, balloons, bunting, fresh flowers, serviettes, a chalk board etc.
♥ Setting up the bar
The night before the party, put your champagne in the fridge to chill.
About 45 min before the guests arrive:
Just before your guests arrive, take the sparkling wine out of the fridge and put it either in an ice bucket filled with ice or on the table.
And…that’s it, you’re ready to party!
I hope you found these tips useful. I think this mimosa bar would not only be great for a brunch but also for any kind of party such as a baby shower, engagement bash…or even for a bride and her bridesmaids to enjoy whilst they’re getting ready on the day of her wedding!
Happy partying!

For a long time, Sherry got a bit of a bad rap and was often seen as a cheap wine, only good for grannihttp://prettymayhem.com
